Chaplain Gwenn Worshill

Gwenn Worshill is a licensed chaplain. She was commissioned as a chaplain and missionary by Crossroads Community Church, Port Barrington, IL. She is endorsed by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), North American Mission Board (NAMB), Chaplaincy Endorsement Commission as a public safety police chaplain and a disaster relief chaplain. Chaplain Gwenn has been active in chaplaincy ministry since October 1998. Gwenn started serving in ministry in 1977. She served in youth ministry at a local church, from 1977 to 2000. This ministry service included biblical instruction. She taught sewing and craft making skills. She also served 12 years as one of the camp counselors for several winter and summer Bible camp outings for the church youth. She instructed numerous children from their infancy all the way to their adulthood. This experience with the young people helped prepare her for her chaplaincy service.

Chaplain Gwenn has certifications in: ICISF Critical Incident Stress Management; Suicide Prevention; FEMA NIMS and ICS; Compassionate Death Notification; Officer Involved Shooting Debrief; Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Chaplaincy, Communications, Assessment and Serve Safe Food Service; SBC Regional NAMB Chaplaincy Trainings; SBC Leadership Trainings; International Conference of Police Region #4 Trainings; among others. She has a total of 458 contact hours of training specifically related to chaplaincy. She has also attended general ministry and biblical training since 1977. Gwenn is trained and certified as a “Blue Cap” (Unit Supervisor) for Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.

Chaplain Gwenn is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. She is also affiliated with and serves with the Southern Baptist Convention North American Mission Board Chaplaincy Team, the Southern Baptist Messianic Fellowship and the disaster relief agencies of the Illinois Baptist State Association, the Lake County Baptist Association, the Southern Baptist Convention NAMB Disaster Relief. She has also served with the Salvation Army Chicago Metro Division, Emergency Disaster Services.

Chaplain Gwenn has served in several chaplaincy related incidents. Her main specialty in police chaplaincy is victim services. She has taken care of police officers and victims/survivors alike. Gwenn is also a disaster relief chaplain. She deploys to natural and manmade disasters and ministers to the emotional and spiritual care of those involved. Gwenn specializes in ministering to other women. On August 16th, 2012 she will be certified to teach SBC Disaster Relief Operational Stress First Aid. Gwenn is on the Condell Medical Center, Major Incident Chaplaincy Response Team. In the last few years she served in chaplaincy during the Chicago NATO Summit, at a Salvation Army, Emergency Disaster Services, Police Rehab and Refreshment Center. Gwenn also served during the Reedsburg floods in Wisconsin and the storm damage in Lake County Illinois.

Chaplain Gwenn has been married to her husband for over 39 years. She has two children and seven grandchildren.

Like her husband, Gwenn is also an emergency services amateur radio operator and a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), a national association for amateur radio operators.

Chaplain Gwenn and her husband started Police Shomreem Ministries in 1998. Gwenn serves as the Vice-President and CFO of this ministry.
